Domhnall MacLochlainn

Domhnall MacLochlainn was the High King of Ireland between 1083 and 1121. At first, his position existed in oppisition to the rule of Toirdhealbhach Ua Briain until the reign of Briain ended in 1086. However, a follower of Toirdhealbhach, Muircheartach Ua Briain, moved to oppose the rule of MacLochlainn between 1101 and 1119.

The name "MacLochlainn" changed several times over the years with Scottish and English influance on the Emerald Isle. It was further altered once the name reached the New World, particularly New England (mostly the Boston, Massachusetts area and Southern Conneticut). It's current form is most recognizable in that area as "McLaughlin" though there are a number of other spellings in other parts of America, as well as back in Ireland.
